Sports Nutrition

Maximize your sports performance and effectiveness, speed up recovery after training and competition, and reduce the risk of colds and infections with personalized sports nutrition and supplementation.

Sports nutrition is a vital component of every athlete’s training and competition plan.

By optimizing nutrition, you can:

  • improve athletic performance (by increasing endurance, strength, and speed),
  • improve the body’s ability to adapt to a training regimen,
  • reduce both subcutaneous and total body fat,
  • increase muscle mass and definition,
  • speed up recovery after intense training sessions and competitions,
  • facilitate rehabilitation of sports injuries
  • maintain an athlete’s health and vitality.

Everything listed here must be achieved effectively, safely and ethically. In Motus Melior, we offer professional services to athletes in the areas of nutrition and supplementation. Based on a detailed nutrition assessment, we are able to effectively optimize athlete’s daily nutritional habits and to develop individual nutritional strategies of supplementation and hydration before, during, and after training sessions and competitions.

Particular attention is focused on:

Energy

Carbohydrates (are the main source of energy for intensive muscular work and their availability can significantly affect athlete's performance in team and endurance sports. Hence, consuming optimal amount and type of carbohydrates before, during, and after training or competition is of paramount importance. Also, we must take into account differences in oxidation rate among various types of carbohydrates.

Hydration

Dehydration impairs the ability to remove heat and negatively affects athlete's performance. Hence, optimal hydration during and after training or competition is important nutritional strategy in sport. This requires consideration of the following factors:

  • weather conditions (air temperature and humidity)
  • training status & intensity
  • proportion of carbohydrates and sodium in the fluid, as it is well known that these nutrients affect fluid apsorption, distribution, and retention in the organism.

Structure

Proteins have many vital functions in the body. Hence, the optimal balance between protein synthesis and degradation is essential for athlete's health and performance. Particular attention is focused on the amount, timing, and type of proteins consumed. It is important for athletes to consume proteins that are rapidly digested and absorbed, and are rich in essential amino acid leucin.  

For the last two years, I have been successfully working with Professor Marković on regeneration, fitness and recovery from injuries and pain.
