Doctor Marković is a full professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, where he gives lectures in the university study courses Basic Kinesiological Transformations and Motor Control. He has finished three study courses (in kinesiology – a graduated professor of kinesiology; in kinesitherapy – a Bachelor’s Degree; in osteopathy – a Doctoral Degree) and after his postgraduate study, became a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of kinesiology (plyometric and sprint training). He finished his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Delaware, USA, under the mentorship of Prof. Slobodan Jarić, Ph.D.
Doctor Marković is a co-founder and the director of the Laboratory for Motor Control and Performance at the Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology. Together with his associates, he conducts research into the functioning and transformation of the human neuro-muscular system in order to increase the knowledge about sports performance optimisation as well as injury and pain syndromes’ prevention and rehabilitation. Up until today, he has published about 70 original articles in prominent international scientific journals from the field of sports sciences and sports medicine. His articles have been cited over 2,000 times. He is a peer reviewer for more than 30 international scientific journals, the leading ones in the field of sports sciences and sports medicine. He has been awarded with two State prizes for science. Doctor Marković has been a mentor for more than 30 Masters of kinesiology, six Doctors of Science (Ph.D.), and four winners of Zagreb University’s Rector’s award. Up until now he has given over 50 oral presentations at international scientific and professional congresses held on five continents.
Alongside his engagement in research and university lecturing, Doctor Marković is extremely active in sports and the practice of rehabilitation. He founded the sports and rehabilitation centre Motus Melior in Zagreb and currently manages its operations. The rationale behind the Centre’s foundation was the idea to create an internationally acknowledged centre of excellence in the field of the optimisation of health, fitness and performance of athletes and the general population as well as in the field of the prevention and conservative rehabilitation of injuries and pain syndromes. He is a licenced acupuncturist. He has participated in over 60 expert seminars on osteopathy, kinesitherapy, sports medicine and sports training programmes. As a physical conditioning coach, therapist, or consultant, he has worked with individual athletes or teams of various sports like athletics, basketball, volleyball, football, taekwondo, tennis, rowing, water polo, ice hockey, table tennis, and others. Among many clients of the MM Centre there are also numerous great athletes from Croatia: Arijan Ademi, Filip Benković, Ivan Buljubašić, Borna Čorić, Junior Fernandes, Ana Konjuh, Filip Krovinović, Marin Leovac, Lovro Majer, Ivan Marcelić, Petra Martić, Damir Martin, Matej Mitrović, Mario Možnik, Dani Olmo, Mate Pavić, Sandra Perković, Bruno Petković, Ivan Raič, Luka Šebetić, El Arbi Hillel Soudani, Sandra Šarić, Filip Ude, Nataša Vezmar, Blanka Vlašić and others. During the season 2018/19, he worked with the GNK Dinamo first team as a coordinator of physical conditioning and rehabilitation of the top team of footballers. Besides his management function in the Motus Melior Centre, Doctor Marković every day performs osteopathic examinations and treatments for the general and athletic populations.
